Dr. Will Kirby Reflects on Future with Big Brother Franchise

Dr. Will Kirby, the winner of Season 2 of Big Brother, has shared his thoughts on a potential return to the reality television series. After winning the show and competing again in the All-Stars season, Kirby has become a notable figure in the franchise. He navigated the game with strategic alliances and clever tactics, marking his place as one of the series’ greats.

In a recent interview, Kirby discussed his ongoing relationship with Big Brother while promoting his upcoming appearance on Celebrity Weakest Link, scheduled for December 8, 2023. Although he has not ruled out a guest appearance, he expressed uncertainty about returning as a full-time contestant. “I just don’t know if, at this point in my life, I could earmark the time that it would take to win again,” Kirby stated.

His first victory came in 2001, a time when he faced significant personal challenges. At that stage, he was a newly graduated physician with debts and no personal attachments. “I had nothing in my life… I had no choice but to win it,” he reflected. He emphasized that the drive to succeed is crucial for contestants. “When you start thinking, ‘I’d really like to hang out with my friends or sleep in my own bed,’ it’s over for you,” he noted.

Kirby’s return for the All-Stars season saw him align with fellow contestant Mike “Boogie” Malin. Together, they leveraged their connections to manipulate the game, but Kirby was ultimately evicted by Janelle Pierzina, finishing in fourth place. Despite his competitive spirit, he acknowledges that the psychological challenges of living in the house can be overwhelming.

Reflecting on his past experiences, Kirby described the Big Brother environment as a “whole other world of pain.” His appreciation for the show remains strong, as he has participated in various capacities across its 27 seasons, including hosting the Jury Roundtable and commenting on gameplay strategies in later seasons. “I’ve been in probably half of the seasons,” he stated, highlighting his enduring connection to the franchise.

While Kirby has stepped back from full-time competition, he is open to continuing his involvement with the show in other ways. “I still love the idea of being a little bit part of that historical genre. It’s really exciting for me,” he concluded. As the Big Brother franchise continues to evolve, Kirby’s legacy remains a significant part of its history.
