Wellsville Elks Lodge Celebrates Centennial with Community Festivities

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Lodge of Elks No. 1495 is set to commemorate a significant milestone: the 100th anniversary of its charter from the Grand Lodge of Elks. This historic document, dated July 16, 1925, marked the culmination of meticulous planning by the Lodge’s founding members, including notable figures such as F.M. Wall, Herbert W. Ward, and Floyd W. Lee.

The centennial celebrations will unfold over a gala weekend, spearheaded by current Exalted Ruler Bryant Hughes, alongside event co-chairmen State Vice President Tom Hand and Past Exalted Ruler Jody Torrey. The festivities will kick off on Friday with a dinner at the Wellsville American Legion, followed by a musical performance by The Sticktights at the Elks Lodge, open for all to enjoy.

A Century of Community and Tradition

The Wellsville Lodge of Elks has been a cornerstone of community life since its inception. The original charter members, a group of dedicated individuals, laid the foundation for what would become a century-long tradition of service and camaraderie. The Lodge has been instrumental in various community initiatives, providing support and fostering a spirit of unity in Wellsville and beyond.

Saturday’s events will see the Lodge participating in the Great Wellsville Balloon Rally parade, a beloved local event that draws crowds from across the region. Following the parade, the Lodge will host a family day featuring youth games, food trucks, and live music by Adam and Anton, followed by Dollar Short, creating an inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.

Celebrating with the Community

The Elks Lodge has long been a hub for social and charitable activities, and this weekend’s events are a testament to its enduring legacy. The celebrations will conclude on July 16, the exact anniversary of the charter, with an open house at the Lodge. Guests will be treated to pizza and wings, fostering a sense of community and gratitude for the support received over the years.

According to Bryant Hughes, “The Wellsville Lodge of Elks has thrived thanks to the unwavering support of our community. This centennial celebration is as much about honoring our past as it is about looking forward to the future.”

The Elks’ Impact and Future

Throughout its history, the Wellsville Lodge has contributed significantly to local causes, supporting veterans, youth programs, and various charitable endeavors. The Lodge’s commitment to these causes is a reflection of the Elks’ national mission to promote benevolence and community service.

As the Lodge looks to the future, it continues to welcome new members who are interested in joining its ranks. The Elks offer a unique opportunity for individuals to engage with their community and contribute to meaningful causes.

“Over the last century, the Elks have been a beacon of hope and support in Wellsville. We invite anyone interested in making a difference to join us,” said Jody Torrey, Past Exalted Ruler.

The Wellsville Lodge’s centennial celebration is not just a reflection of its past achievements but also a commitment to continue its mission of service and fellowship for the next hundred years.

As the Lodge celebrates this remarkable milestone, it extends an open invitation to the community to join in the festivities and explore the opportunities for involvement and impact.
