Speaking exclusively with Decider, Schutte opened up about the creative process with series creator Vince Gilligan, emphasizing the significance of portraying a Mauritanian character on American television. “It’s such an honor to play someone from my country,” he stated, highlighting the cultural authenticity he brings to the role. In Episode 6, Mr. Diabaté finds himself caught in a web of intrigue as he navigates a horrifying revelation brought to him by Carol, played by Rhea Seehorn. Schutte remarked, “It’s a rational thing for him, understanding the situation, but Carol is horrified.”

The actor shared his excitement about filming in the actual penthouse suite of Elvis Presley at The Westgate, where pivotal scenes were shot. “It was living my fantasy within my fantasy,” he described, capturing the opulence and history of the location. Schutte’s portrayal of Mr. Diabaté has resonated deeply with viewers, making him a standout character in a series that has already set records for Apple TV’s biggest drama premiere.

With the series nearing its finale in January 2026, Schutte teased an ending filled with unexpected twists. “The finale has everything you want and everything you don’t expect,” he promised, leaving fans eager for more.
