The King’s College men’s basketball team achieved a remarkable victory on March 15, 2024, securing a thrilling 100-99 win over Centenary after a dramatic triple-overtime battle at McGrane Gymnasium in Wilkes-Barre. The game was a showcase of endurance and skill, featuring standout performances from multiple players, particularly Ben Malley, who came off the bench to score an impressive 31 points.
Contributing to this hard-fought win, Ben Rodner Tims delivered a stellar performance with 29 points and 10 assists. Jake Karnish also made a significant impact, recording a double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds, while Devin Kimmick added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jaden Hall rounded out the scoring with 11 points. This victory marks a pivotal moment for King’s College as they continue their season.
Susquehanna and Misericordia Secure Conference Wins
In other notable games, Susquehanna University defeated Wilkes University 75-72 in a tightly contested Landmark Conference matchup. The River Hawks initially built a 10-point lead by halftime and managed to maintain their advantage despite being outscored in the second half. Mario Castro Sanchez led Susquehanna with a game-high 25 points, while KJ Carson contributed 10 points off the bench. For Wilkes, Eli Becker led the team with 18 points, followed closely by Jack Argento with 17 points and Lucas Lesko with 13 points. With this loss, Wilkes now holds a record of 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference.
Meanwhile, Misericordia University continued its winning streak with a 70-64 victory over Swarthmore. After trailing by two points at halftime, the Cougars surged in the second half, outscoring their opponents. Matt Prociak led Misericordia with 17 points, supported by Jack Gallagher, who achieved a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Cougars improved their season record to 5-3.
Women’s Basketball Highlights
In women’s basketball, Susquehanna’s team triumphed over Wilkes, securing a commanding 72-46 victory. After entering the second quarter tied at 15, Susquehanna took control with a strong 16-7 scoring advantage, eventually pulling away in the fourth quarter with a 28-14 run. Annie Greek led the way for Susquehanna with 13 points, while Sydney Weyant added 12 points. For the Colonels, Maliyah Warren was the leading scorer with 15 points as Wilkes dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Landmark Conference.
King’s College women’s team also showcased their strength with an impressive 82-37 victory against Penn State Schuylkill. The Monarchs quickly established a commanding lead, outpacing their opponents by 20 points at the end of the first quarter. Cadie Lewis led the scoring with 17 points, while Gianna Dickson and Lauren Casey contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively. With this win, King’s now holds a record of 5-2 for the season.
