N. Louis “Lou” Capetola, aged 89, of Malvern, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born on May 14, 1936, he was the eldest son of the late Angelo and Antoinette (Giurastante) Capetola. His life was marked by significant achievements, including a distinguished career and a deep commitment to family and community.
Lou Capetola served honorably in the U.S. Army Infantry, a role that he regarded with pride. Following his military service, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1964, setting the stage for a remarkable professional journey. He dedicated over 50 years to MassMutual, where he became known as the firm’s Chief Investment Specialist, contributing to the success of the organization and mentoring many in the field.
Family and friends held an important place in Lou’s heart. He cherished the time spent with loved ones and took great joy in outdoor activities, particularly gardening, which fueled his lifelong passion for nature. Lou was proud of his roots in Cedar Hollow and maintained a strong connection to his Italian heritage, celebrating both in various ways throughout his life.
A Multifaceted Life of Interests
Beyond his professional career, Lou had a wide array of interests. He was an avid traveler with a profound appreciation for Penn State football, theater, and art. These pursuits enriched his life and allowed him to share memorable experiences with those around him.
Lou’s legacy is further carried on by his family. He was predeceased by his parents and his longtime partner Marlene Wechsler. He is survived by his brother, Emil Capetola (Elizabeth McMurtrie); his sister, Melina (Capetola) Kendig; one nephew; and six nieces. His family remembers him as a dedicated individual whose impact will be felt for generations.
A Mass in celebration of Lou’s life is scheduled to take place at 11:30 AM on December 10, 2025, at St. Patrick Church in Malvern. Visitation is set to begin at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and honor his memory.
