Ryan Weiss Signs $2.6 Million Deal with Astros, MLB Debut Next Year

BREAKING: Former Korea Baseball Organization standout Ryan Weiss has officially signed a 1-year contract worth $2.6 million with the Houston Astros, sources confirm to ESPN. This urgent update marks a significant move as Weiss prepares for his anticipated MLB debut next year.

The deal, pending a physical, includes an option for 2027, potentially allowing Weiss to earn over $10 million in two seasons. This comes at a critical time for the Astros, who are facing uncertainty in their rotation with ace Framber Valdez hitting free agency.

Weiss, 28, had a stellar season in the KBO last year, posting a remarkable 16-5 record with a 2.87 ERA in 30 starts. His performance generated considerable interest, attracting at least half a dozen MLB teams this offseason. Known for his powerful fastball, curve, and change-up, he also introduced a kick change that caught the attention of scouts.

Despite the Hanwha Eagles wanting him back for another season, Weiss opted to join the Astros, signaling a strong desire to compete at the highest level. He now has a chance to secure a spot in a reshaped Astros rotation as the team navigates potential changes.

As Weiss gears up for his MLB debut, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely. This signing not only strengthens the Astros’ roster but also adds a compelling narrative as Weiss transitions from international play to the major leagues.

Stay tuned for more updates on Weiss and the Astros as the offseason progresses.
