Arlene Hartman, a cherished resident of Telford and formerly of Sellersville, passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Hartman, who dedicated her life to family and community service, is remembered for her unwavering commitment to her church and her numerous passions.
A Life of Service and Community Involvement
Born on July 2, 1938, Arlene was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae (Myers) Strouse. She attended Sell-Perk High School and later took up various roles within her community. She worked at the Lutz Pants Factory and the former Emil’s Diner in Sellersville, demonstrating her strong work ethic. Additionally, Arlene served as a consultant for both Mary Kay and Avon, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit.
Arlene retired as a cashier from Clemens Markets in 1997, but her contributions to the community extended far beyond her professional life. For over 60 years, she was an active member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville. There, she participated in the church choir, volunteered with the Altar Guild, and held the position of president of WELCA for 25 years. Her dedication to the church highlighted her deep faith and commitment to service.
Passions and Personal Life
Arlene’s vibrant life was filled with diverse interests. She was an avid gardener and had a special affection for her cats. Her love for antiquing, traveling, and watching the Philadelphia Phillies reflected her zest for life. Additionally, she enjoyed square dancing, collecting stamps and first day covers, scrapbooking, and socializing with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Nemecek, and her husband, James; a sister, Margie Derstine; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends. In addition to her husband, Glenn Hartman, Sr., who passed away in 2023 after 65 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Hartman, Jr., in 1996.
A viewing will take place on December 5, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 25 E. Church St., Sellersville, PA 18960. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., and there will be a livestream available for those unable to attend in person. Interment will occur at Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arlene’s name may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. The arrangements are being managed by the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home in Sellersville.
