Roman Misorek, an esteemed resident of Duryea, Pennsylvania, passed away at the age of 80 on November 23, 2025, at his home. Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late John and Tessie Zaloga Misorek. His educational journey included graduation from Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton, along with further studies at the University of Florida.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Misorek dedicated a significant portion of his career to the Department of Corrections. He was an active member of the Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea and, in his younger years, contributed to the community as a member of the Duryea Lions Club. Known for his passion for the Philadelphia Eagles, he also took a keen interest in technology, being self-taught in computers.
Mr. Misorek is survived by his wife, Karen Smith, with whom he celebrated 31 years of marriage on July 16, 2025. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Martin, John, and Stanley. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.
Funeral Arrangements and Memorial Contributions
Funeral services for Mr. Misorek are scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025. The service will begin at 09:00 AM at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., located at 204 Main Street, Duryea. Following the service, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 09:30 AM at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. He will be interred at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Duryea. A viewing is planned for Friday evening from 17:00 to 19:00 at the funeral home.
