As Thanksgiving approaches, several organizations in the Bangor area and across northern and eastern Maine are offering free holiday meals on Thursday, November 23, 2023. These community initiatives aim to provide festive dining options for everyone, including vegetarian alternatives.
Locations Offering Free Meals
In Bangor, two notable venues are participating. The Hammond St Congregational Church, located at 28 High St., will open its doors at noon, serving meals from 13:00 to 14:00. The Mansion Church, at 96 Center St., will provide meals from 16:00 to 18:00.
In Dexter, the Gatherings 4 Main Street will offer a plant-based meal from noon until 13:30. Additionally, the VFW Post 4298 at 20 Cedar St. will serve meals from 11:00 to 14:00, welcoming all members of the community.
Dover-Foxcroft will host a meal at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, located at 824 W. Main St., starting at noon.
In Ellsworth, the Conscious Café, in collaboration with the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, will provide meals from 11:00 to 16:00 at 50 Church St.
The Lynde Lodge in Hermon, found at 2500 Route 2, will serve meals from 11:00 to 14:00.
Finally, in Old Town, the Christ Church of Faith will offer a meal at 2274 Bennoch Road at 14:00. The Searsport Apostolic Church will conclude the day with a meal at 71 East Main St. starting at 17:00.
