Louis Edward Goldberg, a dedicated engineer and attorney, passed away on November 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 89. His death marked the end of a life filled with professional accomplishments and cherished family moments.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, to David and Paula Goldberg, Louis spent his formative years in Arizona. He shared a close bond with his family, particularly with his sister, Evelyn. His educational journey began at Arizona State University, followed by graduation from the University of Arizona, and later the South Bay University School of Law.
After finishing his studies, Louis embarked on a career as an engineer before transitioning to law. He dedicated himself to his legal practice until his retirement at the age of 73. Throughout his career, Louis earned a reputation for his integrity and commitment to his clients.
Louis’ personal life was equally fulfilling. He married his beloved wife, Sheila Burd Goldberg, with whom he shared a deep and lasting partnership. Together, they raised three children: Robert Goldberg, Michelle Goldberg Smith, and Sheri Goldberg Frazin. The couple created a loving home in California, where they instilled strong values in their children.
In addition to his professional achievements, Louis enjoyed various hobbies that enriched his life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for college basketball. His love for karate and trying new restaurants showcased his adventurous spirit. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, encouraging his children and grandchildren in their personal and professional endeavors.
Louis is survived by his children and their spouses, including Robert and his wife, Elaine, Michelle and her husband, Kevin, and Sheri and her husband, Alvin. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Jennifer Sher and her husband, Rabbi Daniel, Steven Smith and his wife, Kelby, Amanda Goldberg and her fiancé, Zach, Andrew Goldberg and his wife, Emily, Rachel Frazin Sofaer, and Sarah Bowens and her husband, Brandon. Louis was also a proud great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren: Levi, Sami, Lily, Rory, and Ari.
A memorial service was held at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, allowing family and friends to pay tribute to a man who touched many lives. Louis Edward Goldberg will be remembered not only for his professional contributions but also for the love and values he imparted to his family, shaping their lives for generations to come.
