For the second consecutive week, Lamar Jackson did not participate in practice for the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, this time due to an ankle injury. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player was sidelined after previously missing practice the week before due to knee soreness. John Harbaugh, head coach of the Ravens, confirmed the situation, noting, “Yeah, same type of situation” when asked if Jackson’s absence mirrored last week’s.
Harbaugh refrained from providing further details about Jackson’s condition, stating, “I know it’s Lamar, it’s our quarterback. I understand how important it is, and it wasn’t his best interest to practice today. And we’ll see where we’re at.” This cautious approach raises concerns about Jackson’s availability for the upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson’s Tough Season Continues
This season has been particularly challenging for Jackson, who has faced significant pressure on the field. He has been sacked an average of 3.2 times per game, the highest rate of his eight-year career. In the previous game against the Browns, Jackson was sacked five times, which included four by standout defensive player Myles Garrett. This follows a difficult period where Jackson missed three games due to a hamstring injury and has already missed a total of eight practices this season.
Jackson is currently trying to shake off a two-game slump in performance. Over this stretch, he has completed just 57.4% of his passes, averaging 184.5 yards. In the last game, he failed to throw any touchdown passes and recorded two interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of 47.6, marking one of the lowest scores of his career.
Despite these struggles, Harbaugh remains optimistic about Jackson’s ability to secure victories for the team. “Lamar is winning games,” he said. “Finding ways to win the game — that’s what counts; that’s what matters. I think Lamar did a great job in both of those games of playing that kind of winning football.”
Looking Ahead
As the Ravens prepare for their next match, the uncertainty surrounding Jackson’s health could impact their strategy and performance. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Jackson can return to form and lead his team to victory. The Ravens will hope for a swift recovery, as they rely on their star quarterback to navigate the challenges ahead in the competitive NFL landscape.
Jackson’s situation exemplifies the physical demands and unpredictability of professional football, highlighting the importance of player health and team dynamics as the season progresses.
