FilmLight Colour Awards Celebrate Talent at EnergaCamerimage 2025

The FilmLight Colour Awards announced their 2025 winners during a ceremony at the EnergaCamerimage festival in Poland. The event featured opening remarks from jury president Bradford Young, with esteemed filmmaker Park Chan-wook delivering a video message as the guest of honor.

Leading the accolades, Máté Ternyik secured the top prize for his exceptional grading work on The Brutalist. This theatrical feature competition also highlighted the contributions of notable colourists, including Damien Vandercruyssen for Mickey 17, Adam Glasman for Nosferatu, Kostas Theodosiou for Sinners, and Gareth Spensley for The Phoenician Scheme.

In the episodic category, the award went to Peter Doyle for his work on Disclaimer, the AppleTV thriller directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Other nominees in this section included colourists Jean-Clement Soret for Andor, Tom Poole for Severance, and Damien Vandercruyssen for The Studio.

The awards also recognized achievements in various other categories. Dante Pasquinelli took home the prize for the music video category with Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL,” surpassing shortlisted works by Valerio Liberatore, Jake White, and Sam Howells.

In the commercial category, Franziska Heinemann won for her work on Bluff Bounce, specifically the segment titled “Prologue.” Other nominees included Tim Masick for Gucci’s “We Will Always Have London,” Mark Gethin for KFC’s “Obsession,” and Dylan Hageman for Office Magazine’s “Michael Shannon…”

The Spotlight category recognized Connor Bailey for Good Shot, while Marina Starke was honored as the Emerging Talent winner for her work on “Homecoming,” a collaboration with Converse x Daily Paper. Other contenders in this category included Franziska Heinemann for “Prologue,” Imri Agmon for “S Bahn: A Century In Motion,” and Connor Bailey for “Timberland: 50 Years of Hip-Hop.”

The FilmLight Colour Awards continue to shine a spotlight on the artistry and technical skill of colourists across the film and television industry. As the ceremony concluded, attendees celebrated the remarkable talent showcased throughout the event, highlighting the essential role of colour grading in visual storytelling.
