Rory McCann, known for his role as the Hound in *Game of Thrones*, is stepping into the Star Wars universe in the upcoming second season of *Ahsoka*. Initially, McCann was cast as Brasso, a character in *Andor*, but due to an injury, he had to withdraw from the role.
Brasso, a close friend of Cassian Andor on Ferrix, was ultimately portrayed by Joplin Sibtain. Sibtain had originally been considered for a smaller part in *Andor*, but fate intervened when McCann suffered an injury that required immediate attention. “He just had a limp and he went to work,” Sibtain recounted on the *Star Wars Sessions* podcast. “They did a scan on it, and the consultant said, ‘If you don’t have this operated on, you’re going to not be able to walk.’”
With McCann unable to continue in the role, Sibtain was invited to audition for Brasso. “They reshot it. They did a lot with The Hound’s face; they had to superimpose my face on [him],” he explained, detailing the adjustments made during production.
New Beginnings in the Star Wars Galaxy
In a twist of events, McCann will now play Baylan Skoll in *Ahsoka* Season 2, taking over the character from the late Ray Stevenson. This transition was revealed during the recent Star Wars Celebration 2025. Reflecting on McCann’s performance, *Ahsoka* co-star Ivanna Sakhno expressed enthusiasm, stating, “I get to see Rory nearly daily at the moment, and he has been amazing to work with. I will have his work speak for itself, but he is definitely a gift for us to have.”
The anticipation for *Ahsoka* Season 2 is building, with a release date expected in 2026. Meanwhile, *Andor* Season 2 concluded its run on Disney Plus earlier this year, wrapping up the acclaimed series that delved into the origins of the beloved character Cassian Andor.
As fans look forward to the next chapter in the Star Wars saga, McCann’s journey exemplifies the unpredictable nature of casting in the film industry.
