UPDATE: Tifton’s Best Running is set to launch its inaugural Chase the Turkey 5K this weekend, and residents are invited to participate in this exciting community event! Taking place on November 15, 2025, starting promptly at 7:30 a.m. from Tifton City Hall, this run promises to celebrate Thanksgiving in a unique way.
This first-ever race will guide participants through the heart of Tifton, showcasing its historic streets and beloved neighborhoods. Don Boraowski, owner of Tifton’s Best Running, has worked tirelessly for over two years to bring this event to life, inspired by the vibrant community spirit of the Friendly City.
Runners will not only chase each other but may also spot participants dressed in turkey-themed attire, adding to the festive atmosphere. Boraowski collaborated with city officials to create a route that highlights Tifton’s cultural landmarks, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all.
In an exciting twist, the running store will donate approximately 40 pairs of brand-new Brooks running shoes to the nonprofit Called to Care as part of the event. Awards will be distributed, recognizing the top male and female runners in various age categories, including trophies for the best runners under and over 40 years old and age group winners from 10 and under to over 60.
Participants are encouraged to stay after the race and explore downtown Tifton, where they can visit local shops and the Fall Farmer’s Market that will be setting up just as the race concludes. This community-focused event is anticipated to become an annual highlight on Tifton’s fall calendar.
