ACMA Issues Urgent Warnings to Offshore Gambling Firms Targeting Australia

UPDATE: The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has just announced a series of urgent warnings aimed at offshore gambling operators illegally targeting Australian customers. These companies are operating without local licenses, rendering their gambling services unlawful and potentially harmful to Australian players.

ACMA’s latest actions highlight a significant crackdown on websites based in the Comoros Islands and Curacao, which have been exploiting gaps in regulation. These firms are offering online casino games that are explicitly banned in Australia. Among the operators flagged is Hollycorn NV, which runs the Crown Gold Casino brand in Australia, alongside NovaForge Ltd, known for its gambling sites Playzilla and Spins of Glory.

In addition, LBC Enterprises has been cited for its operations under the LuckyBet brand, providing illegal betting options to local players. The ACMA also named Ridley Media, responsible for the site Joe Fortune, and Stellar Ltd, which operates Malina Casino. All these companies are breaching local laws by targeting Australian gamblers without the necessary licenses.

ACMA officials are demanding immediate action from these operators to cease and desist from their Australian operations. A failure to comply could lead to significantly harsher penalties, including the potential for ACMA to pursue legal actions against these firms.

Authorities warn that while some operators have previously operated under licenses from Curacao, many are now moving to less reputable jurisdictions that issue dubious licenses. This shift raises serious concerns about the safety and legality of the services they provide to Australian customers.

The ACMA is not only focused on these specific companies but is also considering collaboration with Curacao’s newly reformed gambling regulatory regime. This partnership could significantly impact how licenses are administered, potentially tightening the screws on offshore operators.

This developing story is essential for Australian gamblers who may unknowingly engage with these illegal platforms. The ACMA’s actions serve as a reminder of the ongoing risks associated with offshore gambling and the need for stringent regulatory oversight.

As this situation evolves, it is crucial for players to remain aware of where they are placing their bets. Stay tuned for further updates as ACMA continues its crackdown on these illegal operators.
