AMD Silo AI has announced a collaboration with Robotec.ai, a company specializing in simulation platforms for robotics applications. This partnership aims to optimize and scale digital twin and scenario reconstruction workloads for advanced automotive and robotics systems utilizing AMD Instinct GPUs with the ROCm software stack. The collaboration is poised to advance safe and human-friendly robotics through Robotec.ai’s open-source, AI-driven digital twin simulation tools.
The initiative builds on previous work involving Robotec.ai’s integration with the AMD Kria System on Module (SOM). This partnership merges Robotec.ai’s flagship RoSi platform—an all-encompassing tool for developing, training, and testing robotics and autonomous systems—with the powerful computing capabilities offered by AMD. Notably, Robotec.ai’s RoSi Sensors, leveraging the RGS ray-tracing library, enhance GPU performance for LiDAR and radar simulations, facilitating rapid testing of intricate multi-sensor configurations.
Commitment to Open-Source Innovation
Michal Niezgoda, CEO and co-founder of Robotec.ai, emphasized the significance of open-source technology, stating, “Open source empowers customers to evaluate technology on their own terms, inspect code for cybersecurity, and benefit from a community that validates and improves solutions.” He contrasted this with proprietary solutions, which can limit flexibility and require dependence on a single vendor’s roadmap.
Both AMD Silo AI and Robotec.ai share a vision of expanding the robotics ecosystem by developing open-source solutions. This partnership is expected to accelerate development cycles while fostering opportunities for academic collaborations and contributions from third parties. Peter Sarlin, CEO and co-founder of AMD Silo AI, noted that this collaboration reflects a mutual commitment to open-source innovation, which enhances customer autonomy and the seamless portability of GPU workloads. “Together we are helping build safe, human-friendly robotics,” he stated.
Building a Comprehensive Robotics Ecosystem
The collaboration between AMD Silo AI and Robotec.ai exemplifies a broader strategy to create an open ecosystem for autonomous systems and robotics. AMD is also working with other leading companies in the sector, including Parallel Domain, to integrate top-tier software with advanced GPU infrastructure. This initiative aims to support both cloud-based and edge-based deployments of robotic applications.
One of the key projects involves testing the capabilities of the first fully autonomous warehouse robot, which utilizes agentic AI technology to dynamically plan and execute tasks in real time. This robot operates exclusively on AMD Ryzen AI processors designed for embedded systems, showcasing the potential of high-performance computing in robotics.
Through its extensive experience in providing comprehensive compute solutions, which include safety-critical edge devices, digital twin platforms, and AI cloud infrastructure, AMD Silo AI is dedicated to enhancing the accessibility of high-performance robotics simulation on a global scale. The collaboration with Robotec.ai is a significant step in this direction, following AMD’s acquisition of the Finnish AI lab Silo AI in the previous year.
As the demand for sophisticated robotics solutions continues to grow, this partnership signifies a commitment to innovation and collaboration within the industry, paving the way for advancements that prioritize safety and efficiency in robotic systems.
