BREAKING: Pop star Lily Allen has opened up about her severe eating struggles, revealing they escalated dramatically following her breakup with Stranger Things star David Harbour. In a candid interview with British Vogue, the 40-year-old singer shared her emotional turmoil after their split, confirmed in February 2024, after four years of marriage.

Allen disclosed that during this challenging period, she faced significant issues with both sleeping and eating. “I’ve had real problems with my food over the past few years. It got really, really, really bad,” she expressed. The singer, known for her hit “Smile,” highlighted the intensity of her feelings, stating, “The feelings of despair that I was experiencing were so strong.”

In a shocking revelation, Allen admitted she nearly compromised her six-year sobriety. “The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those feelings and not use them.” Her honesty underscores a critical moment in her life, showing the emotional weight of her breakup.

Throughout the past few months, Allen has been vocal about her mental health challenges on her podcast Miss Me?, co-hosted with longtime friend Miquita Oliver. Earlier this January, she described her struggle to find interest in daily activities, stating, “I’m just so… I’m really not in a good place.” The singer reported feeling overwhelmed, saying, “I’ve been spiraling and spiraling and spiraling, and it’s got out of control.”

Amid her struggles, Allen also experienced a panic attack during a Miss Me? Christmas lunch, forcing her to leave early. In a December 2024 podcast episode, she candidly addressed her eating issues, revealing that she had previously kept these concerns from her therapist. “It wasn’t at the top of the list of the important things that I need to talk about,” she admitted.

Further complicating her challenges, Allen discussed how her recent ADHD diagnosis in 2023 may have contributed to her disconnect between mind and body. “My body and my brain are two very separate things to me,” she noted. “I’m not eating but I’m not hungry — I obviously am hungry, but my body and my brain are so disconnected from each other that the messages of hunger are not going from my body to my brain.”

The emotional toll of her split with Harbour, whom she married in Las Vegas in 2020, is clear. Allen shares two daughters, Marnie Rose, 12, and Ethel Mary, 13, with ex-husband Sam Cooper. Their separation has prompted her to confront difficult feelings that many can relate to, creating a sense of urgency in her story.

As Allen continues to navigate her mental health, her candidness serves as a poignant reminder of the human experience during tough times. The public response to her revelations is anticipated, as fans and followers rally to support her on social media.

What’s Next: With her recent statements gaining traction, many are watching closely for further updates from Allen. Her journey highlights the pressing need for open conversations about mental health and personal struggles, especially in the face of life-altering changes.

Stay tuned for more developments as Allen continues to share her story, resonating with many who face similar battles.
