UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, police have discovered human remains in a shallow grave behind a school in Germantown, Philadelphia, during the urgent search for 23-year-old Kada Scott, who has been missing for two weeks. The remains were uncovered at approximately 10 a.m. local time on Saturday, following a “very specific” anonymous tip received overnight, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
Authorities confirmed that the remains are currently being processed by the medical examiner’s office. The discovery took place in a heavily wooded area behind an abandoned school near Awbury Arboretum, a focal point of earlier search efforts. John Stanford, First Deputy Commissioner of the Philadelphia Police, stated, “We have been in communication with her family as to this process and in the fact that we have recovered a human being.”
Kada Scott was last seen on October 4, when her mother reported she left for work at a local nursing home. Her family reported her missing the following day, expressing growing concern after she had received worrying phone calls leading up to her disappearance. Capt. John Craig revealed that Scott left her shift early, although the exact time remains unclear.
Police have charged Keon King, 21, with kidnapping in connection with Scott’s disappearance. Officials believe that Scott was in contact with King shortly after leaving work on the evening of October 4. “Mr. King is the last person we believe to be in contact with her when she went offline,” Ashley Kozlowski, assistant district attorney, said during a press briefing.
The police had previously issued alerts for King’s vehicle, a 1999 metallic-gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania license plate MSX-0797. That vehicle was later found in an apartment lot. Officials indicated that two tips led to significant evidence recoveries, with the first tip pointing to an elementary school where valuable evidence was found.
Kada’s father, Kevin Scott, shared his family’s ongoing hope for her safe return. “It’s been difficult, extremely difficult. We keep faith that she’s OK and she’s going to be with us as soon as possible,” he told ABC News.
As the investigation continues, the police are urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward. The community remains on high alert as they await further updates regarding the identity of the remains and the status of the investigation.
Stay tuned for more developing news on this urgent story as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding Kada Scott’s disappearance and the recent discovery of remains.
