ESPN Names Shae Cornette New Host of First Take, Debuts Nov. 3

UPDATE: ESPN has just announced that Shae Cornette will officially take over as the new co-host of First Take starting on November 3, 2025. This decision follows the departure of Molly Qerim earlier this year, marking a significant shift for the popular sports debate show.

Cornette, who has been a familiar face on ESPN’s SportsCenter since joining the network in 2020, has filled in as a host on First Take in the past, impressing audiences and colleagues alike. She will wrap up her responsibilities on SportsCenter by October 25 to prepare for her new role.

In an official statement, Cornette expressed her readiness for the challenge: “I feel ready to step into this role and know I can add to the already successful brand that First Take is,” she said. Her enthusiasm reflects a genuine passion for sports and a commitment to bringing energy to the debate desk every weekday morning.

Veteran host Stephen A. Smith praised Cornette’s capabilities, stating, “Hosting First Take is no easy assignment. It requires confidence, toughness, and real sports insight — and Shae brings all of that and more.” Smith’s endorsement underscores Cornette’s qualifications for this high-profile role.

Cornette’s journey at ESPN includes a variety of roles, from her start at the Big Ten Network to covering the Chicago Bears for Fox 32. She later contributed to ESPN Radio and SiriusXM NFL Radio. Such diverse experiences have equipped her with the insights needed to engage First Take’s passionate audience.

The announcement has generated buzz among sports fans eager to see how Cornette will shape the show’s dynamic alongside Smith. With her fresh perspective and proven experience, she aims to elevate the already vibrant discussions that First Take is known for.

As the debut date approaches, fans are encouraged to tune in and witness the evolving landscape of sports commentary on ESPN. This transition not only marks a new chapter for Cornette but also signifies the network’s commitment to delivering compelling sports content.

Stay tuned for more updates as November 3 approaches, and prepare for an exciting new era on First Take!
