Julio Rodriguez Hits Three-Run Homer, Mariners Lead Game 2

UPDATE: The Seattle Mariners have surged ahead in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, with Julio Rodriguez delivering a powerful blow just moments ago. The center fielder launched a stunning three-run homer against the Toronto Blue Jays in the top of the first inning, putting Seattle in the lead early.

Rodriguez’s explosive hit came off an 84 mph splitter thrown by Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage. This marked the first time Yesavage has allowed an extra-base hit on that pitch throughout his career, according to ESPN Research. With this homer, Rodriguez notched his second home run of the postseason, as the Mariners aim for a 2-0 series lead.

The blast is particularly significant as it was Yesavage’s first career home run allowed in just his fifth start, combining both regular season and playoffs. Before this game, he had only permitted two extra-base hits across 19⅓ innings pitched.

Earlier this week, the Mariners rebounded from a 1-0 deficit in Game 1 to secure a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays, showcasing their resilience on the field. The series now shifts to Seattle for Game 3 on Wednesday, where fans are eager to see if the Mariners can capitalize on their early momentum.

As the postseason intensifies, all eyes are on the Mariners and their young star. Rodriguez’s performance not only impacts the game but also electrifies the fan base, who are rallying behind their team in hopes of a championship run. Stay tuned for more updates as this thrilling series unfolds.
