UPDATE: A helicopter crash in the busy oceanfront area of Huntington Beach, California, has left five people hospitalized this afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. local time, near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Huntington Street, according to reports from local firefighters.

Emergency responders confirmed that the two occupants of the helicopter were safely rescued from the wreckage. However, three pedestrians on the street also sustained injuries during the crash. All five individuals were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Authorities have closed a section of PCH between Huntington Street and Beach Boulevard around 3 p.m. as the investigation into the cause of the crash begins. Police have advised the public to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, with the closure expected to last for several hours.

As of now, the exact cause of the helicopter crash remains unclear. This is a developing story, and officials are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for the latest developments on this urgent incident.
