Families and sports enthusiasts in Mesa can now register for a range of winter recreational programs aimed at keeping residents active during the colder months. The City of Mesa Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for youth and adult sports for the 2024-2025 season, providing a diverse selection of activities for various interests and age groups.
The offerings include the Suns Co-Ed Basketball League, a Kinder Clinic, a Cheer Clinic, and the versatile Playball Multi-Sport program. These programs are designed to engage children, from budding athletes to those exploring new hobbies like yoga. Additional activities such as Lim Karate, LEGO Robotics, and Yoga Stars provide opportunities for skill development in a supportive community environment.
For teenagers, the Helping Youth Produce Excellence (H.Y.P.E.) initiative is now accepting registrations. This program offers workshops and mentorship opportunities led by Mesa staff, helping youth develop personal growth and leadership skills.
Adults can also participate in the winter programs, which include leagues for women’s volleyball and men’s softball. The unique Recess for Adults program offers a chance for individuals to engage in recreational activities. Additionally, there are junior tennis camps, adult tennis clinics, and Drop-In Pickleball sessions for those aged 18 and older. Mesa Parks and Recreation aims to provide engaging ways for adults to stay fit and foster connections this winter.
To simplify the registration process, residents can sign up through the Active Net Registration System online or via email and phone. Those who prefer in-person assistance can visit the Mesa Parks and Recreation Office on Baseline Road, where registration forms are available in both English and Spanish. Residents may also inquire about the Mesa Recreation Scholarship (MRS), which offers a 50% discount for qualifying participants in youth and adaptive programs.
Non-residents can register starting on October 13, 2024, at 08:00 local time. For a comprehensive overview of winter programs, interested individuals can refer to the PLAYBOOK Magazine.
