Deion Sanders Reveals Pain from Possible Blood Clots After Loss

URGENT UPDATE: Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, is in severe pain following his team’s 35-21 loss to TCU on October 14, 2023. He has expressed concerns about possibly having more blood clots in his leg, stating he is “hurting like crazy.”

Sanders, 58, revealed his condition during a post-game interview, saying, “Cat’s out of the bag, all right. I think I’ve got more blood clots. It don’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy. … I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.” His alarming remarks highlight the ongoing health challenges he faces.

As the Buffaloes fall to a record of 2-4 and 0-3 in the Big 12, Sanders’ health concerns overshadow the game. He sat at times during the match, indicating how the pain has impacted his coaching performance. He has a scheduled doctor’s appointment on Monday to further investigate his symptoms.

“Sorry to get that out, but thank you for noticing,” Sanders said, acknowledging his health issues during the press conference.

Sanders has had a challenging health journey, having previously battled bladder cancer. Although his doctor confirmed that he is now cancer-free, he has undergone significant medical procedures, including having a section of his intestine reconstructed to function as a bladder.

In 2021, Sanders faced severe complications related to blood clots, resulting in the amputation of two toes on his left foot. He also missed Pac-12 media day in 2023 due to a procedure to remove a blood clot from his right leg and straighten his left foot’s toes.

The urgency surrounding Sanders’ health is palpable, especially as he continues to navigate the demanding role of a college football coach. Fans and players alike will be watching closely for updates following his appointment on Monday.

Stay tuned for the latest developments on this story as it unfolds, and share your thoughts on how this might impact the Buffaloes’ season moving forward.
