Kimmel Roasts Trump as Ratings Surge Post-Suspension Show

BREAKING NEWS: Late-night sensation Jimmy Kimmel returned to the stage last night with a powerful monologue, taking direct aim at President Donald Trump and his recent attacks on Kimmel and ABC. This comes just two days after Kimmel’s show was pulled from the air due to controversy, and he didn’t hold back, labeling Trump an “80s-movie-style bully.”

Kimmel’s return show on July 12, 2023, attracted a record-breaking audience, with tens of millions tuning in across ABC, YouTube, and social media platforms. “You know a lot of people watched our show last night,” Kimmel quipped, acknowledging his viewership while pointing out that many in 30 states, including major cities like Seattle and Nashville, were still unable to watch due to ongoing pre-emptions by Sinclair and Nexstar.

In his opening monologue, Kimmel roasted Trump’s social media post from earlier this week, where the president accused him of being “yet another arm” of the Democratic party and threatened to “test ABC” for airing content he deemed akin to “a major Illegal Campaign Contribution.” Kimmel cleverly responded, “Only Donald Trump would try to prove he wasn’t threatening ABC by threatening ABC.”

Kimmel defended his routine heckling of Trump, reiterating his stance against bullying. “For those who think I go too hard on Donald Trump…I talk about Trump more than anything because he’s a bully. I don’t like bullies,” he stated, invoking his own experiences from high school.

The late-night host’s return was crucial following a week-long suspension after backlash over comments regarding activist Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer. Official outcry from conservatives, including Brendan Carr, the Trump-aligned FCC chairman, labeled Kimmel’s comments as “the sickest conduct possible” and hinted at possible repercussions for ABC’s affiliate licenses.

Kimmel’s emotional comeback not only defended free speech but also called on the public to resist attempts to censor dissenting voices. “This show is not important. What’s important is that we live in a country that allows us to have a show like this,” he remarked, emphasizing the significance of freedom in media.

Despite the heightened viewership and renewed engagement, critics like Vice President JD Vance expressed disappointment, stating Kimmel failed to apologize for his earlier remarks about Kirk. Vance acknowledged the comedic value in Kimmel’s return but pointed out the lack of remorse for the initial comments.

As Kimmel navigates this turbulent period, audiences are left wondering what his next move will be. Will his critiques of Trump continue to resonate, or will they draw further backlash? With his ratings soaring, all eyes will be on Kimmel and the political landscape he inhabits.
