UPDATE: The Bethel High girls tennis team clinched a decisive victory against St. Mary’s with a score of 6-1 on Tuesday, showcasing their resilience despite soaring temperatures. This impressive win marks a significant moment for the Jaguars as they prepare for their upcoming match.
Leading the charge for Bethel was No. 2 singles player Shiloh Bradley, who staged a stunning comeback to win 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. No. 3 singles player Rovily Zablero followed suit, also rallying from behind to secure victory with a score of 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. Additionally, Vy Phan earned a win by forfeit for the Jaguars.
The doubles teams shone brightly as well. The duo of Betzayda Gonzalez and Jamie Conception dominated their match, winning 6-1, 6-0. Other doubles teams, including Alexis Le and Jezelle Israel alongside Riley Regadio and A’Nya Britt, also secured victories, contributing to the team’s overall success.
Bethel’s next challenge will be at home against Pinole Valley on Thursday, as they aim to continue their winning streak.
In girls volleyball action, the American Canyon team swept Napa 3-0 on Tuesday, dominating with scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-13. This victory elevates American Canyon’s league record to 3-3 and their overall record to 10-5. Standout performances came from Joelle Denina, who notched four aces, and Keilanai Demas, who contributed three aces and 18 assists.
In a thrilling five-set match, the Benicia High girls volleyball team edged out Berean Christian with a score of 3-2, winning 25-17, 25-14, 25-27, 23-25, 15-12. Leading the charge for Benicia were Gabby Muller and Halo Phelps, each scoring 14 kills. Muller also added eight aces and 18 digs, while Phelps contributed 12 digs. Benicia will face College Park on the road this Thursday.
On the soccer field, the Solano College women’s soccer team faced a tough defeat against Modesto, falling 0-7 on Tuesday. The Falcons struggled to keep pace, trailing 5-0 at halftime. Modesto’s Shaylan Roy-Williams shined with a hat trick, highlighting a challenging day for Solano. The Falcons will look to rebound in their next game against Foothill on Friday and return home for a matchup against Contra Costa on Tuesday.
