Karen P. Justus, aged 78, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Maryland. A former resident of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, she spent the last two years of her life in Aberdeen, MD, where she was close to her daughter and grandchildren. Justus was known for her deep involvement in her community and her dedication to her family.
Born to the late Sheldon and Margaret Masters Lawrence, Justus graduated from Newport Township High School in 1964. After graduation, she built a career in retail and banking, working for Weis Markets, Stopay Candies, and the VA Credit Union, among other institutions. Her contributions extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of the Dallas United Methodist Church. There, she taught Sunday School, participated in the Tuesday Quilting group, and was involved in the Sister’s Circle.
Justus was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Justus, who passed away in 1999, as well as her brother, Sheldon Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Justus, and her husband, Dan Rusin, of Aberdeen, MD, along with her son, Kristopher Justus, and his wife, Kelly, residing in Lovettsville, Virginia. Additionally, Justus is remembered by her sister, Pamela Paprota, and her husband, John, of Hanover Township, a sister-in-law, Debbie Lawrence, from Hartford, Connecticut, and several brother-in-laws. She leaves behind four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Karen P. Justus will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, located at 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, PA 18612. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects starting at 11:00 AM until the service begins.
