Christmas Honors has officially unveiled the schedule for its 17th annual wreath-laying event at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The event aims to honor the memories of veterans interred at the cemetery, and it is set to take place on December 6, 2025.
On December 5, 2025, a wreath assembly workshop will be held at the Fort Smith Convention Center from 08:00 to 14:00. Volunteers are encouraged to participate, and assistance is needed in transporting wreaths to the cemetery. According to the event’s organizers, trucks and trailers will be essential for this logistical effort.
The main wreath-laying ceremony will commence on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Family members are invited to place wreaths on their loved ones’ graves between 08:00 and 10:30. Following this intimate time, a public ceremony will take place at 11:00 at the pavilion located within the cemetery grounds. The public wreath laying is scheduled to begin around 11:30.
Wreath pickup is planned for January 7, 2026, at the cemetery, with the pack-up scheduled for January 8, 2026, at the convention center.
Organizers emphasize that community support is vital for the success of the event, relying heavily on volunteers and donations. Since its inception in 2009, Christmas Honors has grown significantly; the program began with wreaths placed on around 12,000 graves and now includes more than 16,000 headstones each year.
