West Fargo Celebrates Community Spirit at West Fest 2023

West Fargo is embracing community spirit with its vibrant annual event, West Fest, which began on August 24, 2023, and runs through the weekend. The festival showcases a variety of activities designed to engage residents and visitors alike, culminating in a parade and numerous performances.

The festival kicked off with the West Fargo Cruise Night on Thursday, August 24, from 16:30 to 20:00 on Sheyenne Street, spanning from Main Avenue to Seventh Avenue. Car enthusiasts had the opportunity to admire classic vehicles, while those seeking a more relaxed experience could attend a Pilates session hosted by Club Pilates at The Lights from 16:30 to 17:30.

Friday night features live music from the popular Johnny Holm Band, performing from 20:00 to 23:00 at The Lights. This event promises to get attendees dancing and celebrating the local culture.

Saturday offers a packed schedule starting with a co-ed softball tournament at 09:00 at South Elmwood Fields. For those interested in arts and crafts, a vendor show will take place at 309 Fifth Ave. W., alongside Dyno Fest at 203 12th St. N. The excitement continues with Band Jam at 11:00 at the POW/MIA Plaza, leading up to the highlight of the festival, the West Fest Parade, commencing at noon. This parade will feature floats, performances from West Fargo Schools, and entries from local businesses, beginning at Main Avenue and proceeding south.

To balance the excitement of the parade, families can participate in the Sandy’s Donuts Family Run from 14:00 to 17:00 at Herb Tintes Park. The day’s festivities will conclude with a performance by the Mason Dixon Line band from 19:00 to 22:00 at POW/MIA Plaza.

In addition to West Fest, the Folkways Night Bazaar promises an enchanting evening on August 24, featuring a magic-themed event. Attendees can encounter whimsical characters such as a giant wizard and a fairy while browsing artisan goods in downtown Fargo’s Broadway Square. The event runs from 17:00 to 22:00 and is free for all, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere with concessions available.

Comedian Jim Norton is set to perform at the Sanctuary Events Center on August 24 as well. His show, “Now You Know,” starts at 18:30. Tickets for this mature audience performance range from $33 to $55.

Classic rock aficionados can look forward to a performance by the legendary band Kansas at Bluestem Amphitheater on the same night. Known for hits such as “Carry on Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind,” the concert starts at 19:00 and features the Eli Young Band as the opening act. Ticket prices range from $48.75 to $139.25.

On August 25, comedian Kelsey Cook will take the stage at the Fargo Theatre. Known for her appearances on late-night television and her popular video series “Wrists of Fury,” Cook’s show, which reflects on her personal experiences, starts at 19:00. Tickets are available for $30.50 to $50.50.
