URGENT UPDATE: The Marshall Mavericks have triumphed over the Tyler Legacy Red Raiders with a decisive 49-33 victory, showcasing a powerful offensive performance that left fans electrified. In front of a passionate home crowd at Marshall High School, the Mavericks improved their record to 2-1 this season.
The game kicked off with immediate action as Tyler Legacy’s Pearl Jackson ignited the offense with a 12-yard run. However, it was Marshall’s Brandon Richardson who quickly shifted momentum by sacking Cason Gray and forcing a fourth down. Alton Henderson then raced for a 25-yard touchdown run, launching the Mavericks into an early 7-0 lead.
As the game progressed, both teams exchanged explosive plays. After a series of defensive stands, Henderson connected with Jamarion Sparks for a stunning 53-yard touchdown, extending the Mavericks’ lead to 14-0. Tyler Legacy fought back, with Von Lane scoring a 7-yard touchdown to bring the score to 14-7.
The first half ended with a flurry of action, including Henderson’s incredible 59-yard touchdown run, which was countered by D’Marian Malone’s electrifying 90-yard kickoff return for Tyler Legacy, closing the gap to 21-13 at halftime.

In a stunning display of speed, Henderson sprinted for a 71-yard touchdown, widening the Mavericks’ lead to 42-33. “All credit goes to the offensive line for opening up the holes,” Henderson stated after the game. “We showed them that we can throw it too. We have weapons everywhere on offense.”
The Mavericks sealed their victory when Jordan Deckard forced a fumble that led to a touchdown, bringing the final score to 49-33. Marshall’s defense stood strong, making critical stops that contributed to the overall success of the team.
