BREAKING: Fox News is undergoing a major weekend lineup transformation, with new shows hosted by Kayleigh McEnany, Peter Doocy, and Jacqui Heinrich. This significant change will take effect on September 20, 2023, marking a pivotal shift in the network’s programming strategy.
In a bold move, McEnany will helm “Saturday in America” from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Doocy and Heinrich will rotate as hosts of the new “The Sunday Briefing” at 11 a.m. on Sunday mornings. These fresh additions come with the cancellation of “MediaBuzz” hosted by Howard Kurtz, who will transition to a political media analyst role for Fox News.
Kurtz expressed his pride in “MediaBuzz“, stating, “I’m extraordinarily proud of the program, which was number one for over 12 years and built a loyal audience that liked our down-the-middle approach.” This cancellation leaves a notable gap in media criticism programming on television, as “Reliable Sources” on CNN was also discontinued in 2022.
As part of this shakeup, Fox News has also confirmed Griff Jenkins as a permanent co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend“, and has appointed Johnny Joey Jones and Tomi Lahren to be permanent co-hosts of “The Big Weekend Show“, which will now expand to three hours from 5-8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fox News Media president & editor-in-chief Jay Wallace emphasized the network’s commitment to delivering “unrivaled depth and expertise” in their weekend programming. “This new dynamic roster underscores our continued commitment to delivering incomparable coverage,” he noted.
These changes come after a period of consistency in Fox’s programming, following the addition of “My View with Lara Trump” earlier this year and the overhaul of its weekday primetime lineup in 2023.
As viewers brace for these changes, the impact on Fox News’s audience engagement and ratings remains to be seen. The network appears to be positioning itself for a more competitive landscape in weekend programming, setting the stage for what lies ahead in political and media discourse.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as Fox News reshapes its weekend offerings.
