Lydia Plath and her husband, Zac Wyse, are navigating their future family plans while expressing a shared desire for children. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on August 25, 2023, Lydia, 21, revealed that they are currently not in a rush to start a family. “We’re still playing it by ear,” she stated, mentioning that they are aiming to wait at least a year before considering having children.
The couple, who married in February 2023 after a brief engagement, is facing pressure from Lydia’s father, Barry Plath, who has been eager for grandchildren since before Zac proposed. Lydia candidly noted, “He’s ready to be a grandfather. He’s still waiting today.” She shared a lighthearted moment about a shelf in their home, which was previously used for her baby pictures, recalling her father’s comment about filling it soon.
While Barry Plath is enthusiastic about becoming a grandfather, Zac is in agreement with Lydia’s approach to family planning. “We’re definitely waiting, though, because we want to know each other. We also want to prepare for something like that,” he explained to Us Weekly. Despite their decision to delay parenthood, Zac acknowledged their growing desire for children, admitting, “We do want babies. We have baby fever.”
Future Family Aspirations
When the couple decides to expand their family, Lydia mentioned their hopes of having “three to five” children, describing that size as “not too small, not too big.” This ambition reflects her own upbringing as one of nine siblings, which has likely influenced her perspective on family size.
Recently, the couple spent time with reality television stars Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, who welcomed their third child, son Finnegan, in March 2023. Lydia reflected on the experience, saying, “Seeing Zac hold a baby, it was just the worst thing for me right now,” which further fueled their desire for kids.
Despite their eagerness, the newlyweds are committed to enjoying their time together before becoming parents. They have reportedly had “plenty of practice” in their relationship since waiting until their wedding day to kiss. Zac expressed confidence in their intimacy, stating, “I think we trusted each other enough that, you know, it wasn’t going to be perfect.” Lydia added, “Whatever it was, was going to be perfect because it was us learning together.”
Embracing Their Journey
The couple’s story highlights the balance between personal desires and familial expectations. With Lydia’s father actively expressing his wishes for grandchildren, the couple remains focused on building their relationship first. Their journey showcases a modern approach to marriage and family, emphasizing preparation and mutual understanding.
As they navigate this new chapter in their lives, Lydia and Zac are open about their plans and the joys of their current relationship. The series “Welcome to Plathville” airs on TLC every Tuesday at 22:00 ET, where viewers can continue to follow their evolving story.
