Ruth E. Miller, a cherished member of the Pottstown community in Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at Manatawny Manor. She was 98 years old and is remembered fondly for her contributions to music and her loving nature. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Ralph “Lefty” S. Miller, with whom she shared a remarkable 61 years of marriage until his death on July 18, 2013.
Born on November 3, 1926, in Reading, PA, Ruth was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Rhoda (Embody) Miller. After graduating from Boyertown High School in 1944, she pursued her dream of teaching music at West Chester University. Her passion for music remained a central part of her life, as she played the violin with the Pottstown Symphony and participated in programs at the Saugerties Music Camp, aimed at nurturing young musicians.
Ruth’s professional journey began at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where she worked as an administrative assistant and met her future husband. Her career, however, was only a part of her legacy. Ruth’s gentle and caring spirit profoundly impacted those around her, particularly her family. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (David) High of Annapolis, MD, and Melissa Zipay of New Berlinville, PA. Ruth also leaves behind her grandchildren, Nathan (Emily) Zipay and Kacie (Chad) Widmann, as well as her great-grandchildren, Finley and Hazie. Notably, Nathan and Emily are expecting twins, adding to Ruth’s proud legacy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during Ruth’s visitation on September 2, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., located at 955 N.
