Marion County Supervisors Fund Habitat for Humanity Projects

The Marion County Board of Supervisors has approved a grant of $10,000 to support Habitat for Humanity of Marion County. This funding, approved during a meeting on March 12, 2025, will serve as a local match for a grant from the Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund (CIHTF). The CIHTF recently announced the availability of an additional $50,000 intended for critical home repair projects.

The funds from CIHTF are crucial for Habitat for Humanity, which plans to apply for this grant to address urgent home repairs in the region. The county’s contribution will not only assist in financing past projects but will also enable the completion of several ongoing and future initiatives. To date, Habitat for Humanity has invested $251,885 in 20 projects throughout Marion County in 2025, with another 10 projects currently underway.

Many of these projects are based outside the city limits of Pella, Knoxville, Pleasantville, and Melcher-Dallas, amounting to a total expenditure of $51,270. The CIHTF requires a local match of 27.8%, making the county’s support essential for leveraging the full potential of the available funds.

Habitat for Humanity of Marion County continues to play a vital role in improving housing conditions for local residents. The organization focuses on providing affordable home repairs, which are crucial for maintaining safe living environments for families in need. The recent approval of funding by the Marion County Board of Supervisors highlights the commitment to addressing housing challenges in the community.

As the demand for affordable housing solutions grows, support from local governments and organizations like CIHTF becomes increasingly important. The collaboration between the Marion County Board of Supervisors and Habitat for Humanity reflects a proactive approach to addressing these needs, ensuring that residents can access safe and stable housing.

In summary, the recent funding approval represents a significant step toward enhancing housing conditions in Marion County. With ongoing projects and future initiatives on the horizon, Habitat for Humanity is poised to make an even greater impact in the community.
