Fire Engulfs Eagle Mountain Apartment Complex, Injures One Tenant

A significant fire erupted in an apartment complex in Eagle Mountain, Utah, early on March 12, 2024, resulting in one tenant suffering injuries and six sheriff’s deputies experiencing smoke inhalation. The blaze, which began shortly after 1 a.m., prompted an urgent response from the Unified Fire Authority and multiple other firefighting teams.

Upon arrival at the complex located near 8050 N. Ridge Loop, firefighters encountered heavy flames extending from the roof. Deputies from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office had already evacuated most residents, but one tenant remained trapped inside. Firefighters used a ground ladder to access a third-story window, where they discovered the individual hiding in a bedroom closet in an attempt to escape the fire.

The rescued tenant was transported to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City for treatment. Six sheriff’s deputies received on-site medical attention for smoke inhalation, highlighting the dangerous conditions faced by responders during the incident.

According to a statement from Eagle Mountain City Hall, the fire originated on the second-story exterior patio of building J before rapidly spreading throughout the structure. Fire crews worked diligently to contain the blaze, which continued to rage until approximately 6 a.m. In total, firefighters from six additional departments supported the Unified Fire Authority in their efforts.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released additional information regarding potential damages or the status of the apartment complex. The Red Cross has stepped in to assist those displaced by the fire, ensuring they receive necessary support during this challenging time.
