Apple is preparing for its annual fall product launch season, but recent reports suggest a significant absence in this year’s lineup: the Mac. As the company gears up for a series of new hardware announcements, including updates to the iPhone and Apple Watch, it appears the Mac will not receive any new hardware this fall.
The upcoming launch event is expected to take place on September 9, where Apple will unveil its new iPhone 17 series, which includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Additionally, new Apple Watch models, AirPods Pro 3, and an array of other products are set to be introduced. In total, Apple is rumored to be launching approximately 13 new products this fall, highlighting its commitment to expanding its hardware offerings.
Among the anticipated products are the Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, AirTag 2, M5 iPad Pro, Apple Vision Pro 2, Apple TV 4K with A17 Pro, and the HomePod mini 2. Despite this diverse array of launches, the conspicuous absence of any new Mac devices raises eyebrows.
Reports indicate that while an M5 MacBook Pro is under development, it has been delayed until early 2026. Similarly, a new Mac Pro is also overdue, with recent indications suggesting that an M4 Ultra chip may be coming to the Mac Pro. Yet, no mention of any Mac products appeared in Bloomberg’s recent preview of fall launches, which underscores the unusual nature of this omission.
Historically, Apple has maintained a consistent release schedule for its Mac lineup. The current situation marks a notable departure, as the company prepares to launch multiple new products across various categories while leaving the Mac line without updates. This shift has not gone unnoticed, particularly given the excitement surrounding the new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, AirTags, and Vision Pro, all launching simultaneously.
While the absence of new Mac hardware may disappoint some users, there is optimism for the future. Reports suggest that early 2026 will not only see the launch of the M5 MacBook Pro but also an M5 MacBook Air. This indicates that Mac users may not have to wait too long for significant updates to their devices.
As the launch date approaches, anticipation builds for the upcoming lineup. Which products are you most excited about? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
