This two-day event, held on August 23-24, attracted teams from across Europe, transforming Vilnius into a vibrant hub for dog lovers.
Participants included teams from Poland, Latvia, Germany, Austria, and Italy. The event featured exciting races, a solo sprint, puzzle-solving challenges, and a costume contest, culminating in a lively World Corgi Meetup that connected Lithuanian corgis with their counterparts in Ireland, the United States, and Poland.
“This is so much fun and great emotion for the entire family,” said Janina Stoniene, a retired teacher who brought her three grandchildren to the event. “It’s something bright that many people are craving for these days.”
The competition saw remarkable entries, including a corgi named Amigo, who won first place in the costume contest with a creative factory-themed outfit. Other competitors dazzled the crowd dressed as a princess, Batman, and even an airplane.
In a thrilling solo race, Mango claimed victory, showcasing the agility and speed of these beloved dogs. “Last year we didn’t manage to end the race perfectly,” said Ignas Klimaika, owner of Mango. “This year we decided just to participate and enjoy all the lots of corgis.”
The event’s success is underscored by last year’s figures, which drew nearly 7,000 fans and featured 100 corgis from five different countries. This year’s turnout is expected to surpass that as more families and dog lovers embraced the festive spirit.
