UPDATE: Dulce Luna Botana in Marshall is celebrating one year of delighting customers with its unique Mexican snacks and sweets! This beloved snack shop, located at 409 E. Pinecrest Drive, has quickly become the go-to destination for anyone craving a sweet treat in the area.
Maria Luna, the 24-year-old owner, originally launched her business as a food trailer in 2023 and has since transformed her passion for baking into a thriving community hub. “I always wanted to have my own little location,” Luna stated, sharing how her journey began outside her brother’s restaurant, Taco Reyes.
Dulce Luna Botana offers a variety of mouthwatering items, including street corn, tres leches cakes, and her signature aguas frescas, which are creatively enhanced with flavors like pumpkin spice. “I wanted to spice things up,” Luna explained as she described her innovative approach to traditional drinks.
The shop’s success is rooted in Luna’s love for her community and a commitment to quality. Over the past two years, she has built a loyal customer base, winning the title of best dessert in the News Messenger’s Hometown Best contest for two consecutive years. This recognition reflects the profound impact Dulce Luna Botana has made in Marshall.
Luna’s entrepreneurial spirit runs deep; her family has a history of business ownership, which has instilled a drive for success within her. “My parents came here from Mexico with nothing,” she shared. “We push ourselves to become successful and give back.”
September will mark the one-year anniversary since Luna moved her operations into the Pinecrest Drive location, a transition made possible with the help of her sister, Lorena, who previously operated a hair studio there. “We took the leap of faith and moved over here,” Luna said, emphasizing the importance of family support in her journey.
Dulce Luna Botana remains committed to being a vibrant part of the community. Luna still utilizes her food trailer to participate in local events, ensuring that her delicious offerings reach as many customers as possible. “The support from my family and the community has been incredible,” she stated.
With plans for expansion in the future, Luna encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to follow their dreams. “El sol brilla para todos,” she advises, which translates to “The sun shines for everyone.”
