Senate Leader Thune Calls for Urgent Release of Epstein Files

Senate Majority Leader John Thune supports ‘full disclosure’ of Epstein files

UPDATE: Senate Majority Leader John Thune has just announced his strong support for the “full disclosure” of government files related to the notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking on Wednesday to Fox News, Thune emphasized the need for transparency surrounding the Epstein case, amid growing pressure from President Trump’s base regarding the administration’s handling of the contentious documents.

“We’re all interested in making sure that justice is served and that there is full disclosure and there’s transparency around this,” Thune stated during an interview with host Bret Baier. This urgent call for action comes as the FBI and Justice Department recently concluded a “systematic review” of the Epstein case, which has sparked significant controversy.

The review, released last week in an unsigned memo, claimed that there is “no credible evidence” of Epstein blackmailing prominent individuals or that further investigations into “uncharged third parties” were needed. The memo also provided a link to surveillance footage from the Manhattan jail where Epstein died on August 10, 2019, suggesting that no one entered his cell the night of his suicide.

Earlier in the week, Trump criticized those demanding more information about the Epstein case, labeling them as “weaklings” and asserting that the accusations surrounding Epstein are part of a “scam” orchestrated by past Democratic administrations. Thune, however, believes that transparency is crucial. “I’m always a believer in transparency,” he reiterated, adding, “More is always better.”

Additionally, House Speaker Mike Johnson has echoed Thune’s sentiments, advocating for transparency regarding the government’s investigation into Epstein. “It’s a very delicate subject, but we should put everything out there and let the people decide,” Johnson stated during a podcast appearance on Tuesday.

The growing demand for transparency comes as public sentiment shifts, with recent polls revealing that a significant majority of Americans disapprove of the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files. According to a Quinnipiac University national survey released on Wednesday, only 17% of voters approve of the administration’s actions regarding Epstein, while 63% disapprove. Among GOP voters, 40% approve, while 36% express discontent.

As pressure mounts for full disclosure, the implications of this investigation extend beyond political lines, touching on issues of justice and accountability. The public’s demand for clarity in this sensitive matter continues to grow, and officials are urged to respond swiftly.

What’s next? As discussions surrounding the Epstein files intensify, all eyes will be on the Trump administration and Congress for further developments. Will they heed the calls for transparency, or will the public’s quest for information continue to be met with resistance? Stay tuned for updates as this story unfolds.
