UPDATE: A family in Venice is urgently seeking answers after 25-year-old Neo Moroke, a recent graduate of Cal State Northridge, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident just days before his birthday. The tragic collision occurred around 2 a.m. on September 20 at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard.
The Los Angeles Police Department reports that Moroke was crossing the street when a driver struck him and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, according to LAPD Media Relations.
“He was my life, my hope, my inspiration,” said Douglas Moroke, Neo’s father, recalling the pride he felt watching his son graduate just months earlier. Neo had left home that night to meet friends, telling his father, “Hey Dad, I’ll see you later.”
In the wake of this devastating loss, family and friends have created a memorial outside the Moroke home, where Douglas sits each night to reflect and talk with his son. “I just hope the person that did it can find themselves to have a moral conscience to come and say something,” he urged, imploring the driver to step forward. “Do the right thing. This child had a future ahead of him.”
Authorities have not yet identified the suspect or the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. Despite the busy intersection, investigators have not secured clear video evidence. However, a witness reportedly saw a blue SUV, possibly driven by a woman, leaving the scene. This detail has not been confirmed by police.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the LAPD immediately. The Moroke family’s tragic story highlights the urgent need for justice and accountability in hit-and-run cases.
This heart-wrenching incident underscores the fragility of life and the impact of reckless driving. As the community rallies around the Moroke family, the call for answers and justice grows louder.
