The popular Hulu drama series “Tell Me Lies” returns for its third season on January 13, 2024, but speculation surrounds whether this will be the show’s final chapter. During a recent interview with Us Weekly, series creator Meaghan Oppenheimer expressed uncertainty about the future of the series. She stated, “In terms of future seasons, it’s impossible to really know at this point.”
Oppenheimer shared that she has envisioned season 3 as a natural conclusion to the story. “I certainly had always thought this was more or less the ending I’d had in mind,” she noted. Despite her inclination towards this being the series’ conclusion, she did not completely rule out the possibility of a continuation. “You never know what’s going to happen in the future,” she remarked, emphasizing her intent to provide closure for viewers in this season.
The series, based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name, explores the toxic relationship between Lucy Albright, portrayed by Grace Van Patten, and Stephen DeMarco, played by Jackson White. The narrative unfolds across two timelines: their college days at the fictional Baird College and the wedding weekend of their mutual friends, Bree (Catherine Missal) and Evan (Branden Cook), occurring years later.
In a conversation with People, White hinted at a significant shift in his character’s portrayal this season. He described Stephen’s evolution as going full “super villain,” stating, “There’s no denying how malicious it all is now — the lengths he goes to.”
Van Patten echoed this sentiment while speaking with USA Today, suggesting that the unfolding mind games between Lucy and Stephen will delve into even darker territory. “It goes beyond what I even thought toxic was,” she remarked, indicating that the new episodes will present challenges that are hard to imagine.
The first three episodes of “Tell Me Lies” season 3 will be available for streaming on Hulu starting January 13, with new episodes released weekly on Tuesdays thereafter. As fans eagerly await the premiere, the uncertainty surrounding the show’s future adds a layer of intrigue to this already dramatic series.
