UPDATE: The South Georgia Technical College Jets suffered a tough loss to the fifth-ranked Northwest Florida State College Raiders, falling 93-78 in a game held in Niceville, FL over the weekend. This defeat brings the Jets’ season record to 4-10, while the Raiders improve to an impressive 17-1.
The Jets entered halftime only trailing 42-35, showing resilience against a dominant team. However, the Raiders exploded in the second half, outscoring South Georgia 51-43 to secure the victory.
Leading the Jets was sophomore guard Clark Mastin from Conyers, Georgia, who scored 17 points. Freshman wing Reggie Cleveland from Fort Lauderdale, FL, made a significant impact off the bench with 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Notably, sophomore center Matt Mbole from Younde, Cameroon, contributed 13 points, alongside four rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots.
Also scoring in double digits were sophomore forward Marc Ferdy from Brazzaville, Congo, and freshman wing Guillaume Schoentgen from Laaber, Germany, each adding 11 points to the scoreboard. Freshman guard Marcellus Myles from Thomaston, GA, and sophomore wing Dwight Brown from Conyers, GA, rounded out the scoring with six and five points, respectively.
Looking ahead, the Jets and Lady Jets will kick off their Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) schedule on January 7, 2025, hosting Central Georgia Technical College in a highly anticipated double-header at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM in the hangar. Both teams are eager to turn their fortunes around in the second half of the season after facing tough competition.
