UPDATE: Microsoft Teams is set to roll out significant improvements to its messaging system, addressing long-standing user frustrations. These changes are expected to launch as early as January 2026, with enhancements aimed at streamlining user experience.
Authorities at Microsoft have confirmed that Teams users will soon gain the ability to customize the behavior of the Enter key. Currently, pressing Enter sends a message, which has led to accidental submissions. Under the new update, users will have the option to choose whether pressing Enter sends the message or starts a new line. This functionality, listed under Feature ID 537279 on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, is anticipated to be available for Desktop, Linux, and Mac users by February 2026.
Additionally, Teams will introduce a highly requested feature allowing users to select and forward up to five messages simultaneously. Currently, users can only forward one message at a time, making this upgrade a significant time-saver for many. This feature, identified as Feature ID 536997, is expected to be available for Desktop, Mac, and web users by January 2026.
These updates come in response to extensive feedback from users who have expressed their desire for a more flexible messaging experience. Microsoft has actively engaged with its user community, taking their suggestions into account to enhance the overall functionality of Teams.
With these improvements, Microsoft aims to bolster Teams’ reputation as a collaborative tool, addressing the criticisms it has faced in recent years. As more users rely on digital communication platforms, these enhancements could significantly impact productivity and user satisfaction.
Stay tuned for more updates as Microsoft continues to refine Teams. Users can expect these changes to roll out soon, and they are encouraged to keep an eye on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap for the latest timelines and details.
