Google has officially launched its new tool, Workplace Studio, designed to empower businesses to automate tasks using artificial intelligence (AI) agents. This innovative platform allows users to create agents without any coding skills, streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity across organizations.
Farhaz Karmali, Google’s product director, describes Workspace Studio as a comprehensive solution for designing, managing, and sharing AI agents within the Google Workspace environment. He emphasizes that this tool leverages the advanced capabilities of Gemini 3 to provide user-friendly automation options. “We’ve built AI automation that’s simple to use, deeply integrated into Google Workspace, and puts custom agent creation in the hands of every employee,” Karmali stated.
The launch follows a successful testing phase under the Gemini Alpha program, during which users automated over 20 million tasks in just the past month. The primary goal of Workspace Studio is to enable anyone within an organization to create AI agents using pre-built templates and natural language instructions.
For instance, users can instruct the platform with simple commands such as, “If an email contains a question for me, label the email as ‘To respond’ and ping me in Chat.” The tool then generates an agent capable of executing this task, which can be further customized and shared among team members.
Integrating seamlessly with essential Workspace applications, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Chat, agents built with Workspace Studio can be monitored through side panels in these apps. Additionally, users have the option to extend functionalities to third-party services. For those with more technical expertise, App Script allows for the creation of more sophisticated automation routines.
