Pierre Gasly Extends Alpine Contract to 2028, Eyes Championship Glory

Pierre Gasly has officially extended his contract with Alpine, committing to stay with the Formula 1 team until at least the end of the 2028 season. The French driver initially joined Alpine in 2023 and had a deal lasting until 2026. This new agreement, which adds an additional two years, reflects Gasly’s strong confidence in the team and its future prospects.

Since his arrival, the 29-year-old has made a significant impact, securing two podium finishes: at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Gasly expressed his excitement about the extension, stating, “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, makes me feel very proud.” He emphasized his belief that Alpine is the right place for him to achieve future success.

Gasly’s Vision for Alpine

Gasly highlighted the support he has received from Alpine’s leadership, mentioning figures like Flavio Briatore, who has played a pivotal role since his return to the team, and François Provost, who is dedicated to the Formula 1 project. “Flavio’s support and belief in me, François’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision,” Gasly remarked. He added that his goal is to work towards winning races and world championships together with the team.

Briatore, Alpine’s executive advisor, also commented on the importance of this contract extension. He noted, “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team.” Briatore further expressed confidence in the team’s future, stating, “We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future.” He praised Gasly’s commitment and talent, describing him as “an immense asset” during what has been a challenging period for the team.

Aiming for the Future

With this contract extension, Gasly is clearly focused on contributing to Alpine’s ambitions in Formula 1. His enthusiasm for the team and its potential to achieve significant milestones is evident. As he aims to help drive Alpine towards greater competitiveness, fans and analysts will be watching closely to see how this partnership evolves in the coming seasons.

The announcement solidifies Alpine’s commitment to building a strong foundation as they prepare for the upcoming changes in Formula 1 regulations, which are set to take effect in 2026. With Gasly at the helm, the team looks poised to make significant strides in the highly competitive racing landscape.
