Former WWE Superstar Maven recently shared insights into his wrestling career during an interview on the show Insight with Chris Van Vliet. He reflected on his remarkable victory over The Undertaker for the Hardcore Title and recalled the moment he took the first televised F5 from Brock Lesnar.
Memorable Victory Against The Undertaker
Maven described his victory over The Undertaker as a significant milestone in his career. “It’s big for me because it was The Rock,” Maven said, recalling the moment when he was caught in a dragon sleeper hold. He vividly remembers looking up the ramp, anticipating The Rock’s entrance with a chair. “It’s just crazy how life works out. A year and a half prior to that, I’m a sixth-grade school teacher with a ‘The Rock says…’ bulletin board in my classroom,” he added. “Fast forward a year and a half, and I’m in a match where he’s hitting The Undertaker with his finish to allow me to beat him. How does life work out that way?”
The atmosphere in the arena was electric when The Rock made his entrance. Maven described the crowd’s reaction as “insane,” sharing that he had spent time listening to the audience’s response to various wrestlers’ entrances. “I used to go and listen underneath the ramp,” he explained. “The moment you would hear [The Rock’s] entrance, the place would come unglued. It was different.” Maven noted that the sound of Stone Cold Steve Austin‘s glass breaking evoked a similar, intense reaction from fans.
Taking Brock Lesnar’s F5
Another highlight of Maven’s career was taking the first televised F5 from Brock Lesnar. He detailed the preparation leading up to the move, stating, “There was no telling me how I’m gonna take it. I asked Brock, ‘What do you need from me?’ He said, ‘Nothing, just lay flat.’” Maven humorously recalled how he initially questioned whether he needed to assist with the lift. “He laughed at me. He said, ‘No, I got you,’” he recounted. “Once he grabbed me, I realized I’m a child to him. Literally, the way you probably run and grab your two-year-old up, that’s how he was with me.”
Maven’s reflections offer a glimpse into the thrilling and unpredictable world of professional wrestling. His unique experiences illustrate the blend of athleticism and entertainment that defines WWE.
