Dine with a View at Colorado Springs’ Hotel Polaris Restaurant

Pamela’s at Hotel Polaris offers diners a captivating experience with stunning views of the Air Force Academy and the scenic Front Range. The restaurant, located in Colorado Springs, has garnered attention for its exceptional service and culinary offerings that justify the premium prices on the menu. Guests can enjoy a range of dishes while soaking in the picturesque surroundings, making it a worthwhile dining choice.

The restaurant features expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking landscape. Upon entering, the decor strikes a nostalgic note, reminiscent of the futuristic style of “The Jetsons,” although some might find it slightly dated. Regardless, the focus quickly shifts to the view, which enhances the overall dining experience.

Service begins promptly with a basket of warm rolls accompanied by honey butter, setting a positive tone for the meal. The menu includes a diverse selection of options, including soups, salads, and entrees. The meal commenced with a generous bowl of Colorado corn chowder, priced at $14. This hearty dish was filled with roasted corn, applewood bacon, and Yukon gold potatoes, complemented by a hint of green chile that added a pleasant kick without overshadowing the smoky flavors.

Alongside the chowder, a Caesar salad priced at $17 showcased crisp romaine lettuce topped with thick croutons, delicate cheese crisps, and shredded Parmesan. The dressing was notably rich and slightly salty, balancing the freshness of the greens.

Among the notable entrees, the mushroom pea risotto at $37 stood out. Vibrant green peas and a variety of mushrooms contributed earthiness to the creamy, nutty rice. This ample portion not only satisfied at the time but also provided delicious leftovers the following day.

For an additional side, the restaurant offers a la carte items from the Ranch and Rivers menu. The roasted Brussel sprouts, priced at $13, paired well with the Verlasso salmon, which costs $29. Sourced sustainably, the salmon was initially presented with artistic grill marks, though one side was overcooked. The attentive staff quickly rectified this, presenting a perfectly cooked piece of fish that was firm and buttery.

The roasted Brussels sprouts, prepared with pieces of bacon and balsamic glaze, provided a smoky flavor that complemented the dish beautifully. Again, the portion sizes were significant, allowing for sharing or ample leftovers.

Despite common perceptions of hotel restaurants being limited in culinary quality, Pamela’s offers a compelling dining experience that attracts not only hotel guests but also locals. The restaurant is conveniently located at 8989 North Gate Blvd., making it accessible to those seeking a memorable meal with a view.

Pamela’s at Hotel Polaris operates for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, extending to 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The establishment accepts credit cards and offers various amenities, including outdoor dining and Wi-Fi.

In summary, dining at Pamela’s combines excellent food, attentive service, and a remarkable view, making it a notable destination in Colorado Springs for both locals and visitors alike.
