Fetty Wap Praises 50 Cent for Support During Prison Sentence

Fetty Wap has expressed gratitude towards 50 Cent for his unwavering support during his recent incarceration. Following his release from a Minnesota prison on January 8, 2024, Fetty Wap detailed the rapper’s significant role in assisting him both financially and mentally during his three-year prison stint.

During his first interview after regaining his freedom, which aired on The Breakfast Club on January 9, Fetty Wap described 50 Cent as a vital source of support throughout his legal troubles. “From day one, it was like, ‘Whatever you need, just holler at me,’” he recalled. The New Jersey native emphasized that he was not accustomed to receiving help in such a manner, stating, “I’m used to it’s always the other way around.”

Fetty elaborated on the nature of their communications, sharing that 50 Cent was available for both financial assistance and emotional guidance. “Whatever I needed, he was right there,” Fetty added. He noted that 50 Cent consistently checked in on him, even inquiring about his plans for returning home. The rapper also revealed that their conversations included 50 Cent urging him to focus on his music and to avoid making poor choices.

In response to Fetty Wap’s acknowledgment, 50 Cent shared a video clip on his Instagram, welcoming the rapper back and expressing his willingness to support him moving forward. He wrote, “WOP HOME fresh out the FED’S ready to work. He good I got him let’s get it.”

In addition to 50 Cent, Fetty Wap mentioned fellow artists such as Coi Leray, Chief Keef, and Albee Al for their support during his time behind bars.

Fetty Wap’s legal troubles began in September 2021 when he was arrested on federal drug charges just before his performance at the Rolling Loud NYC festival. Prosecutors alleged that he was involved in transporting 100 kilograms of drugs from California for distribution in Long Island. In August 2022, he pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiring to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine. He was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2023, ultimately serving over three years before his early release.

Upon his release, Fetty Wap expressed his gratitude in a statement to Billboard, thanking his family, friends, and fans for their support. He stated, “It truly means everything to me.” Looking ahead, he emphasized his commitment to community initiatives, particularly focusing on supporting at-risk children by enhancing access to education, early tech skills, and vision care. “I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most,” he said.

With his sights set on the future, Fetty Wap is determined to rebuild his career and make a positive difference in his community.
