Wyomissing Police faced a busy day on January 8, 2026, responding to a variety of incidents ranging from reported identity theft to traffic accidents and false alarms. Officers dealt with a steady stream of calls throughout the borough, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding public safety.
Early Morning Responses
The day began shortly after 01:40 a.m. on State Hill Road when police responded to a report of a woman allegedly attempting to break into her former roommates’ home. Officers categorized the incident as involving a mental health concern and conducted a follow-up. No arrests were made in connection with this call.
Following this, officers were dispatched to Warwick Drive due to a door alarm, which turned out to be a false alert. Shortly after, an automatic fire alarm was triggered at a nearby residence. Fire officials quickly determined that a faulty smoke detector was responsible for the alarm, and no emergency conditions were present.
During the morning, police aided another department in searching for an individual linked to a vehicle in Northumberland County; however, the person had left the Wyomissing address by the time officers arrived. Additionally, a traffic stop on Park Road North resulted in a warning for a registration violation.
Afternoon Incidents and Ongoing Investigations
As the day progressed, officers began handling multiple reports related to financial and property concerns. On State Hill Road, a woman reported that her identity had been misused at a business, though she did not incur any financial loss. Police provided her with identity theft resources to assist in the matter.
At a business on Berkshire Boulevard, another individual reported a missing wallet that contained approximately $70 in property and $100 in cash. Later, police responded to a disorderly conduct incident on State Hill Road, where a woman was accused of recording and taking photographs inside a business. She complied with officers’ requests to leave without further incident.
Traffic-related calls continued into the evening, including a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 near North Wyomissing Boulevard. Fortunately, no injuries or vehicle tows were required. Officers also investigated a suspicious incident on Bern Road after an employee reported feeling unwell after handling a $20 bill, which was subsequently sent to the Pennsylvania Treasury for further examination.
In addition to these incidents, Wyomissing Police assisted West Reading officers with camera-related requests and carried out a welfare check on Woodland Road after a woman fell while crossing the street. The woman declined medical attention.
The evening saw additional burglar alarms reported on Berkshire Boulevard and State Hill Road, both of which were determined to be false. A carbon monoxide alarm incident on Margaret Drive was addressed by the Wyomissing Fire Department. Moreover, a traffic stop on State Hill Road resulted in a citation for a traffic signal violation.
Officers concluded the day by resolving a civil dispute on Park Road North over keys via phone contact and responding to a final burglar alarm, again confirmed as false. In total, police documented 19 separate incidents over the course of the day.
Authorities reiterated that all incidents described are preliminary, and any suspected criminal activity remains allegations. Individuals connected to these cases are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
