Lurlin was born on January 11, 1941, in Iowa Falls, IA. He was the cherished son of the late Edward W. and Garnet (Neubauer) Schermer. His love story began when he married Judith Miller on December 10, 1960, in Dumont, IA, marking the start of a beautiful journey together.
For many years, Lurlin dedicated his career to the Hiland Potato Chip Company before transitioning to the Davis Oil Company, from where he eventually retired. His life was rich with simple pleasures; he was passionate about hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards, activities that brought him joy and relaxation.
Survived by his devoted wife, Judith, Lurlin leaves behind a legacy of memories cherished by his son, Michael (Ann) Schermer of Fertile, IA, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Cassandra, Clare, and Matt (Kylie), and four great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his siblings, Lynn (Susan) Schermer of Little Rock, AR, Loren (Sue) Schermer of Hampton, IA, and JoEllen (Lynn) Arends of Hampton, IA.
