Imogen Poots to Receive Excellence in Acting Award at Denver Film

BREAKING: Imogen Poots is set to receive the prestigious Excellence in Acting Award at the Denver Film Festival on November 4, 2023. The announcement comes as excitement builds for the festival, which runs from October 31 to November 9, 2023. Poots will be honored for her powerful performance in The Chronology of Water, directed by Kristen Stewart.

The award ceremony will take place following a screening of the film at the stunning Denver Botanic Gardens. Based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s acclaimed memoir, the film features Poots as a competitive swimmer confronting her troubled past and grappling with self-destructive behavior. This role marks one of Poots’ most vulnerable performances to date.

Denver Film Festival artistic director Matthew Campbell praised Poots, stating,

“Imogen Poots has always brought an honesty and intensity to her performances that make her impossible to forget. With The Chronology of Water, she delivers one of her most vulnerable and powerful roles to date. We’re thrilled to recognize her artistry with this year’s Excellence in Acting Award.”

In addition to her recognition at the festival, Poots is gearing up for upcoming projects, including starring alongside Tessa Thompson and Nina Hoss in Nia DaCosta’s film Hedda. She recently collaborated with Brett Goldstein in All of You and has a diverse portfolio that includes roles in Outer Range, The Teacher, and I Know This Much is True.

The Denver Film Festival is also set to honor other notable figures, including Zoey Deutch, who will receive the Rising Star Award for her role in Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague. Ben Foster will accept the inaugural Outlaw Award, while Charlie Polinger will be recognized with the Breakthrough Director Prize for The Plague. Additionally, Peggy Ahwesh will receive the Stan Brakhage Vision Award.

Festival attendees can also look forward to a special mid-fest interview featuring Katey Rich, Dave Gonzales, and Matt Patches from the podcast Fighting in the War Room on November 4. The live discussion will occur in the lower level of Tattered Cover, providing fans a unique opportunity to engage with industry insiders.

As the festival approaches, buzz around Poots’ award and the film’s release continues to grow. The Chronology of Water is set to hit theaters nationwide in December 2023, promising to leave a lasting impact on audiences. Stay tuned for more updates as the festival unfolds and celebrate the artistry of cinema in Denver.
